Thank you!
Thank you for your interest in my campaign. I’m George Laumeyer, and I’m running for Clerk and Recorder because my life is dedicated to service, leadership, and defending democracy. I’m committed to ensuring our county government operates with security, accessibility, and transparency - especially when it comes to elections.
A Lifetime of Service
My journey began as a Security Specialist in the United States Air Force deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch, among others. There, I defended our country and democracy with my literal life. The Air Force instilled in me the values of leadership, integrity, and courage—qualities that continue to guide me every day.
Education and Public Engagement
Following my military service, I earned degrees in Political Science and History from Western Colorado University, focusing on modern political theory and the inner workings of democracy. I then pursued a career in Public Relations, working with organizations like the Denver Broncos, where I developed a deep understanding of the importance of listening to and engaging with diverse communities.
Empathy and Advocacy
I furthered my education through the Master’s program at the University of Denver, leading me to become a Special Needs and Social Studies teacher. Teaching allowed me to work closely with students and families, nurturing my empathy and understanding of the diverse needs within our community while serving those who needed support the most.
Hands-On Election Experience
When Colorado’s education crisis led me to shift paths, I joined the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder Department as an Election Administrator. There, over the course of seven years in the Clerk and Recorder's Office, I became part of the statewide team that created the best election system in the country. I also gained invaluable experience in election operations, motor vehicle services, and records management. This role gave me the expertise to ensure that every vote is counted and every government service is handled efficiently.
A Fortunate Native
I was born at Swedish Hospital and raised right here in Jefferson County. I attended Welchester Elementary and eventually, Evergreen High School, later completing my teaching internship at Columbine, where my siblings attended. I studied at Western Colorado University, and did my post graduate studies at DU. Colorado is not just where I live - it’s my home, and serving this community is my passion.
Commitment to Our Community
Beyond my professional work, I am deeply involved in Jefferson County. I volunteer with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and have supported the Staunton State Park Track Chair Program since 2019, helping individuals with disabilities experience Colorado’s natural beauty. Drawing on my experience with the Veteran’s Administration, I also created a partnership to provide outdoor therapy opportunities for veterans with disabilities.
Ready to Lead
With your support, I will bring my experience, passion, and dedication to the Clerk and Recorder’s office. I am ready to improve security, accessibility, and transparency across all departments from day one. Having helped build the nation’s best election system, I am prepared to lead our county's Clerk and Recorder Department into the future.
Together, we can ensure that democracy is protected and that every resident of Jefferson County receives the exceptional service they deserve.
Thank you for your support.
